If you’re buying a laser engraver for yourself, you’re making a significant investment. Before buying, you want to make sure you choose the laser engraver that is best suited to your needs. There are a few different questions you can ask to ensure you’re making the right purchase. We’ll discuss them below.
What Do You Want to Do with Your Engraver?
There are two big metrics you need to consider when buying your engraver: how big is it going to be, and how powerful is the laser going to be? The size of your machine determines the size of the material you can cut. If you’re working with smaller material, a bigger machine will even be able to cut multiple items at once.
Contrary to popular belief, the power of your laser won’t determine how thick of a material you can cut. However, it will influence how quickly the laser can be cut. If you don’t let a weaker laser spend an appropriate amount of time cutting the material, you won’t get a good, full cut.
What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?
Of course, the hope is that your laser engraver works perfectly throughout the course of its lifespan. But what happens if a part breaks? Are you buying from laser engraving experts who are qualified to let you know how you can fix the machine?
What Is Your Budget?
Ultimately, you should keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Laser engravers are continually getting better, which means you can do more with less. However, we don’t recommend simply finding the cheapest deal for your engraver. Though you may be able to find a laser engraver for cheap in China, you don’t know what’s going to happen when you try to use it.
These are complicated electrical machines. If you’re not buying from a trusted source, you’re risking more than just having it not work. It might not show up, or it could even cause an electrical fire. Don’t look for the cheapest engraver. Make sure you’re getting one that’s trustworthy.
